She shot the Sheriff...

Sunday was an eventful day for Miss Grace. We went out and about doing a little shopping and Grace needed a diaper as we were getting loaded up in the car soo Mike said he would change her in the front seat :) Now a little background on Grace.. she likes to poop either 1: In a clean diaper, 2: No diaper at all. I was in the back seat because I had just fed her and I was peering over the seat in front of me watching this diaper change. As Mike was wiping her off she shot Poo straight into the air and on to my front seat. ( I ducked!) We had a good laugh! THEN as we were doing our nightly routine of getting her into her Jammies, Mike unhooks her diaper and she shot poop OVER the diaper and about 6 inches in front of her feet, covering the socks Mike had already removed to avoid any such dirty disaster. Epic Moment. ( I've got a blackmail picture of this momentous event).

So on a different note, Grace slept all night in her OWN room last night. We have had her in the pack in play in our room, but she has been doing so good and has been so predictable we moved her to her crib last night. She did awesome, she likes her sleep as much as her mommy and daddy :) She ate at 9:30 was asleep by 11p and didn't wake up until 5 this morning. She ate at 5 and let me sleep til 9:30! lol. lets pray this pattern continues, we are hoping to have her on a good schedule before I go back to work.

looks good!

I visitied my classroom today for my 5/6th and 7/8th periods, just so that my kiddos could meet me, learn my expectations, and kind of get the feel for how my class will be. My sub had said that she had a little trouble with a couple of kids so I wanted to get that straightened out pretty quickly :). I AM IMPRESSED! This looks like a really good group of kids, and I felt really excited to come back when I left today. YAY! After the train wreck I had last year, I just know this year is going to be better! I go back to work Sept. 17 :)

She's GIFTED! :)

Ok, I have got to brag on my kid a little bit!

When Mike and I found out we were pregnant we immediatly started talking about the do's and don'ts of child rearing. One of the things that we felt really strongly against was co-sleeping. Not to trash people who chose to co-sleep with their kiddo's, it's just not for us. I'm a really light sleeper and Mike could sleep through the atom bomb being dropped in our bedroom. SO I just imagine me staring at her all night long OR Mike rolling over on top of her or something. So Miss Grace has been put down in her bassinet every night since we have been home. So far so good. We have had a few up and down nights but overall she is sleeping like a champ. So here's the scoop on my gifted child! lol. Last night ( 3 weeks old mind you) girl friend nursed at 8:45p, fell asleep SLEPT TILL 2:15a, nursed, THEN slept until 7, nursed THEN let me sleep until 9:45!!!! OMG.... She was up and alert for most of today so I am praying and hoping that last night wasn't some fluke :)

FYI: She is really enjoying bath time.. loves the warm water. She just discovered her vibrating chair this week. She hated it when we got home from the hospital but she seems to love it now. She has also (unfortunately) become very attached to the binky (another one of those things I thought I would never do as a parent) I'M THROWING IT AWAY WITH THE BOTTLE AT 1!! But right now it is saving my sanity. :) I am really excited about my Dad getting to visit, He'll be here Labor Day weekend!

We're Home :)

I want to first of all say thank you for all of the prayers and support from all of our family and friends through Grace's eventful delivery. The Pnuemothorax cleared up very quickly after they inserted the catheter into her chest to release the air. Within 15 hours they were able to transition her from the NICU to our arms. We were able to go home on time (amazing right?). At her newborn check the next day she was a little jaundiced and she weighed 5lbs 13oz. By the next morning she was up to her birth weight at 6lbs 1oz (ahh the miracles of breastmilk), and the jaundice appears to be stable :). Mike was able to stay home all last week and he returned reluctently this morning back to work. Our little squeaker has been so good, letting us get 4 hour sleep increments at night. She is just too beautiful for words....
